Trauma Therapy California Washington Perinatal, Therapy for Moms

Hi! I'm Andrea

I help cycle-breaking moms who grew up in chaotic or emotionally unsafe homes calm their nervous systems, unlearn survival patterns, and parent with confidence instead of fear.

If you've found your way here...

  • You are a mom or caregiver who is passionate about giving your kids a childhood they don’t have to recover from.

  • You are pregnant, postpartum, or in later stages of motherhood and looking for expert support from someone who also has lived experience as a cycle-breaking mom.

  • You might be navigating grief, rage, depression, or anxiety as you work to show up consciously for your kids each day.

  • You are motivated to heal your wounds from the past so you can be fully present and deeply connected to your kids.

  • You are processing what motherhood means for you as an individual and want to claim your power and joy as a whole human.

Healing is possible

Imagine if you had a space where you could focus on restoring a sense of safety to your body and mind, begin to develop greater trust in your own truth and intuition, and learn tools for re-parenting yourself with the love and compassion you always deserved. Motherhood can invite a powerful initiation into greater alignment with our highest, most powerful selves. Doing our own "work" not only serves our children by helping ensure they grow up in a secure and stable environment, but also allows us to touch the depths that this life phase offers us, leading to greater aliveness and a secure attachment to self.

What I offer

I have 13 years of experience providing heart-centered, trauma-informed mental healthcare. My approach is warm and gentle, and incorporates both experiential and conversational modalities. The blend of depth work and practical support allows for healing that is both lasting and immediately actionable. I help give context to your experiences and reactions to help dismantle shame and foster self-compassion.

Tools such as Brainspotting and somatic therapies offer us avenues of healing that target the deeper parts of the brain that drive our automatic reactions. Working somatically can lead to greater capacity to stay present, mindful, and regulated. Within our sessions, a safe and supportive container allows you to feel held and less alone in your journey. When you would find it helpful, I can also provide tangible support around day-to-day parenting challenges. Most importantly, I will support you in staying accountable to your personal parenting values and priorities.

How this is different

It makes sense you want to invest in therapy that adds meaningful value to your life. I am prepared to meet you at the specific intersection between trauma healing, personal development, and the ongoing demands of caring for your kids. You carry a lot on your back and you deserve support from someone who gets it. You have been carrying too much for too long and you can feel yourself crying out for relief. You'll receive support with healing from childhood wounds, and help with finding ways to manage stress with less blowing up or numbing out. We'll work on solidifying your mothering values so you can put your precious energy towards what is most important to you (hint: maintaining a perfectly clean home may not be it). You can expect to be met with respect, non-judgment, and curiosity. Working together, you'll benefit from the opportunity to focus on your own needs so that you can show up in life and in parenthood as your most grounded and confident self. You'll be compassionately witnessed and encouraged every step of the way.

"I've had the privilege of working with Andrea Freeman since 2014, and she's a genuinely dedicated and compassionate therapist. She's kind and thoughtful in her approach and has a real passion for supporting moms and children. Andrea is especially skilled in working with trauma. She's one of the few therapists I truly trust when making referrals — I know anyone I send her way will be in good hands.
