YOU are the person you've been missing. Let's help you find them.

Hi! I'm Andrea Freeman, LICSW
(she/her)

I help individuals — adults healing from the past, new moms, and cycle-breaking parents at any stage — settle their nervous systems and find deep and lasting healing. Through somatic therapy, parts work, and Brainspotting, we work where words alone can't reach.

Trauma Therapy California Washington Perinatal, Therapy for Moms

If you've found your way here, you might be...

  • A survivor of a childhood that was unpredictable, unsafe, or unstable. Your energy was spent surviving, reading the room, shrinking to avoid harm, or taking on heavy loads beyond what should ever be left to a child. The shame that accumulated from being told you were too much or too sensitive is something you have likely carried for a long time.

  • A new or expecting mom who is feeling anxious, overwhelmed, or like you no longer recognize yourself. Motherhood might be different than what you expected: harder, more complex, and more nuanced of an experience than anyone told you. Wounds from the past might feel more tender than ever.

  • You are navigating your own ongoing journey of healing from the past while striving to offer your kids what you may not have received for yourself. You cling proudly to the mantra of It Ends With Me, and you are ready to embark on the brave journey of re-parenting yourself so that your pain doesn't transfer to your kids.

You Don't Have to Do This Alone

The experience of feeling deeply seen and heard can be a powerful catalyst in helping you lean in to your own intuition, wisdom, and confidence. New mothers may begin to find firmer footing as they evolve into their new identity. Trauma survivors may begin to notice that they more often choose themselves instead of self-abandoning. Cycle-breaking parents may find great benefit in creating space to tend to their own tender inner spaces so that they can show up as confident leaders in their families.

What I Offer

I meet you where you are with compassion, non-judgment, and curiosity. Together we explore and bring gentle attention to the many dimensions of who you are:

  • The armor that protected you during times when you needed that protection desperately.

  • The perfectionism that was born from the need to get it just right to avoid big, scary reactions from caregivers.

  • The grief that lingers heavy in your chest about times of your life where hurt or numbness were your primary emotional experiences (and perhaps continue to be).

  • The stories you inherited from generational burdens, mental health stigma, capitalism, patriarchy, or colonialism.

  • The sparks and glimmers - the parts of you that delight in small moments, hobbies, or relationships.

  • Your visions, hopes, dreams, and goals for a meaningful and well-lived life.

I believe all parts of you worthy of being seen and understood, even when you feel they are no longer needed or are even holding you back. Together we honor how you adapted and survived. You are much more than any diagnosis or list of symptoms, and it would be a privilege to hear your story and companion you on your healing journey. I take an active and collaborative approach in sessions, offering and integrative and individualized approach depending on where you are in your personal experience and what you hope to get out of therapy. Sessions may include a combination of dialogue and experiential practices, with genuine relational connection woven throughout. Skills that can be used in daily life can be offered when desired. Because trauma and stress impact us on multiple levels, I utilize a neuroscience-informed approach to facilitate healing that is paced to your unique nervous system. My style is often described by clients as gentle, warm, validating, and kind.

I meet people at important moments in their lives:

Parents Breaking Generational Cycles

You want your children to receive something different from what you experienced when growing up, but it can be challenging to break away from what's familiar. We work together to help you tend to your own wounds so that you don't pass them along to the next generation.

The perinatal journey

Pregnancy, postpartum, loss, and birth trauma are all life-altering experiences that ask so much of you. Together, we offer tender care to the parts of you that are in process of becoming, grieving, and adjusting to this new life.

Healing from childhood wounds

Past traumas still feel present in the mind and body, and "talking" and "coping" have only gotten you so far. Somatic and depth work help us cultivate internal safety and connection to an inner source of compassion.

You are layered. Your healing journey should  be also.

"I've had the privilege of working with Andrea Freeman since 2014, and she's a genuinely dedicated and compassionate therapist. She's kind and thoughtful in her approach and has a real passion for supporting moms and children. Andrea is especially skilled in working with trauma. She's one of the few therapists I truly trust when making referrals — I know anyone I send her way will be in good hands.
